TURNING THE UNIT ON AND CONTROLLING POSITIONING The slit-lamp is turned on and off and the light intensity is controlled by the unit mounted below the table. The movement of the slit-lamp biomicroscope laterally and in and out is controlled by the joystick. The vertical movement is by twisting the ring at the base of the joystick or by the collar in front of the joystick depending on the model. The vertical adjustment is accomplished on some instruments by twisting the joystick-clockwise to raise and counter-clockwise to lower. The unit can be locked so it does not move by the small knob near the table top on the right side. This should be locked when not in use so the unit is not damaged when it is swung out of the way if on the stand or when the table is moved.
